(PS it's at Dongdaemun Design plaza)
Check out this awesome new video for Baekma's "Miss America" from their debut album Disaster Matinee. With just a few weeks to go until their new record is unleashed, this will hopefully tide us over.
Beakma are gearing up to release their follow up to 2014's Disaster Matinee later this summer. Anyone who has seen the band live in recent months knows we're in for something special. The CD release show is scheduled for August 29th at DGBD (Hongdae) and will have Silica Gel and Nice Legs supporting.
As soon as a new track illegally leaks on the internet we will share! In the meantime take a moment to remember why this is exciting news. Feel free to dance along.
Juck Juck Grunzie have been busy this month. After hosting two very successful fundraising shows (thank you all!) the band is set to head to the UK and Germany next week. In addition to their two sets at Glastonbury this year the band has added a show in London and two shows in Berlin following the festival. Check out the link below for details.
This weekend Seoul will be loosing one of it's best bar bands The Killer Drones. As it goes here in Korea members of this predominantly expat band will be heading home to the motherland. Head out to Phillies Basement in HBC for what should be an appropriately grimey, booze-soaked, dive-bar send off to one of our best. Used Cassettes, DTSQ, and the local legend himself LRD and his L.R.D. Band will support. Oh, and it's FREE!
This month's Hello Rookie prize went to none other than our own DTSQ. Hello Rookie is a monthly prize given out to the best up-and-coming musicians in Korea. In addition to the cash prize each monthly winner is invited to take place in the televised year end event. If you remember just a few years ago Juck Juck Grunzie took home the 2nd place prize at the grand final event. Congrats to DTSQ! Be sure to check them out this Friday at Club FF along with New Blue Death.
Thanks to their new partnership with Chili Music New Blue Death's Before We're Gone EP is now available through Melon (Korea's answer to Spotify) as well as Naver Music and a whole slew of other outlets through out Korea. Anyone who has tried to get their music on these (not-so open source) services will attest that this is no small feat. While Loose Union has been singing the praises of NBD for years this is a great chance for the band to get a great many more eyes and ears focused on them in their adopted homeland. In addition to this month's re-release of Before We're Gone NBD and Chili have plans to relaunch their latest full-length It's Never the Right Time later this summer as well. Here's hoping this is the start of bigger and better things for one of our favorite local bands.
New Blue Death will be hitting the stage again this Friday at Club FF in Hongdae with new Loose Union friends DTSQ. NBD has played live very sparingly this year so be sure to come check out and in the mean time enjoy this title track from NBD's latest EP.
As we previously announced Juck Juck Grunzie will be hitting the road this summer in Europe with shows in the UK and Germany, including a spot at Glastonbury 2015. As we all know you gotta spend money to make money, and touring takes lots and lots of money! So Loose Union is throwing a party to help our friends get out of Seoul this Saturday. Beakma, Table People, and Cranfield will all be joining Juck Juck Grunzie for the festivities. So come out, party, and help us help Juck Juck Grunzie spread the word on what's really going on here in Seoul. More details on Facebook.
We're very happy to announce that Juck Juck Grunzie will be heading to the UK this summer to take part in the granddaddy of all big summer music 'fests, Glastonbury. The band will perform twice at the festival; June 25th on the Pussy Parlour Stage and June 26th on the Gully Stage, both in Silver Hayes.
In addition Juck Juck has added a show in Berlin at Berghain am Kantine on July 1st and expect to announce more dates for the UK and Germany very soon.
We'll keep ya posted!
Presto!!! And just like that we have a new site design. It's magical...
Thanks for hanging with us. Check back to see all the cool s**t going on in Seoul
We do too.
Table People need YOU! Support their album fundraising campaign at Indiegogo. Albums don't make themselves. In fact most of us are putting ourselves in the poorhouse to support our addiction to making records. We couldn't stop if we tried. With that in mind help us help Table People keep being Table People. Seoul is better for it. Thanks!
Check out this video and support one of Seoul's best.
